Abstract: The Q-LAMPS project aims at advancing the EU force detection and protection capabilities in terms of surveillance and situation-awareness in military scenarios, by developing the technological building blocks of a novel multiparametric sensor (MS) that exploits state-of-the-art optics, quantum physics, and machine learning, to provide precise and accurate assessment of manifold hazards. The simultaneous assessment of risks of different nature will guarantee a global fulfilment of the security and defense capability requirements for humans and vehicles, both in military dwelling areas and in field operations. The project will enable a European network of research institutions and industrial companies cooperating in developing advanced – optical and quantum – sensing technologies, which will form the building blocks for an integrated multi-parameter measurement platform. We envision that the integration of different technologies into a unique platform can deliver a transformational approach to the sector of security and defense, surpassing the limitations of current field monitoring systems, in terms of multiplexing, specificity and detection capability.
