Abstract: The project aims to develop a new experimental apparatus to efficiently generate entangled hybrid quantum states of light and the study of their applications for quantum information technology. The generation and characterization of this kind of light states has been demonstrated for the first time in the quantum optics laboratory of the CNR-INO and they are a very good approximation to the strange situation described in the famous “gedankenexperiment” proposed by Schroedinger [1,2].
Recently, it has been proposed that the hybrid entangled state can be applied to realize the quantum teleportation protocol, opening the way toward the realization of quasi-deterministic quantum gates to perform quantum computing algorithms. Therefore, an additional aim of this project is to investigate the possibility to implement the quantum teleportation protocol and its applications, its possible improvements and its advantages among similar proposals.
