Multilevel system optimisation via nonlinearity management

Abstract: Nonlinearity management is explored as a multilevel tool to obtain maximum transmission reach in a WDM system. A technique for the fast calculation of the optimal dispersion pre-compensation in systems with distributed amplification is proposed.
