Folded CO2 laser resonators with controlled beam quality

Abstract: The optical design of folded CO2 laser resonators is presented, in particular with reference to a three U-fold cavity. Basic formulae are given and beam quality optimisation criteria are outlined. Experimental results on a real laser system are reported.
