Improved analysis of the effects of stimulated Raman scattering in a multi-channel WDM communication system

Abstract: A system of N first-order differential equations, which describe N interacting channels in a WDM system affected by S.R.S., is solved numerically, under very general assumption, with the Runge-Kutta method. Differential losses and different signals depletion rates are accounted for. The actual limitations imposed by SRS are evaluated and found to differ appreciably from previously published ones.
