Abstract: A transition between hexagons and rolls is observed in an optical diffractive system containing a LCLV acting as a Kerr-like non-linearity. A rotation of 180 degrees in the optical feedback is responsible for the appearance of new stable structures as negative hexagons and rolls. The stability of the different patterns is discussed by means of a simple model based on coupled normal form equations.
