Abstract: Transparent coverings were applied to windows since ancient times to permit sunlight access and prevent loss of heat from the building. Current technologies allow realizing elevated thermal insulation between internal and external environments, simultaneously mitigating the solar spectrum portion that is useless for human vision and that in summer would overheat indoor spaces.
