The role played on the Yb: LuAG laser performance by high doping levels and high ion excitation density

Abstract: We present the laser per formance achieved by 15%Yb:LuAG crystal. Experimental evidences of a non-linear loss mechanism which occurs at high ion excitation desity is observed and characterized.
