Metallodielectric optical antennas for enhancing and directing spontaneous emission

Abstract: We exploit concepts from plasmonics and cavity quantum electrodynamics to devise new optical antennas for controlling spontaneous emission. The proposed antennas reduce the excited-state lifetimes to about 100 fs while maintaining quantum efficiencies around 80%.
