Abstract: Recent progress in high precision spectroscopy in the far infrared region of the electromagnetic spectrum are reported. In particular, we describe the tunable FIR (TuFIR) spectrometer operating at LENS, in Florence, Italy, and its applications on atoms and molecules. Exclusive spectroscopic results are made possible by a combination of ”metrological” lasers and new experimental schemes as Veniamin Chebotayev taught us several times.
