Abstract: The possibility to induce ablative decomposition with minimal thermal damage on organic tissues by excimer laser suggested promising medical applications of this class of lasers. Excimer laser angioplasty, which represents one of the most advanced surgical laser technique, is at present pursued by some groups at a clinical level. Original research programs in urology and dentistry, developed by our group, are also presented.
