Stabilisation of optical solitons by an acousto-optic modulator and filter

Abstract: Continuously shifting the optical frequency by acousto-optic modulators may substantially improve the stability of a periodically amplified soliton transmission system with filtering. This method, which is analogous to the sliding filter technique, may also be applied to fibre loop soliton generation and storage.
