Abstract: We present a perturbative analysis of the interaction between three optical solitons in the presence of synchronous amplitude modulation and bandwidth limited amplification. We predict and experimentally observe the self-generation of sequences of interacting soliton pulses with a fixed temporal separation that circulate inside an actively mode-locked erbium-doped fiber ring soliton laser.
