Project description: ”THE – Tuscany Health Ecosystem” is an aggregation of scientific, technological skills and research infrastructures in the Life Sciences sector. It was born from a project proposal presented by the University of Florence, in coherence with one of the strategic lines of the Tuscany Region relating to life sciences. The project has a strong territorial vocation, the starting point is the Smart SST specialization strategy of the Tuscany Region.
The Project intends to promote and strengthen collaboration between the research system, the production system and local institutions. THE goal is to develop innovative solutions to transform them into products or commercial activities.
The Project also envisages that the TRL (technological maturity level) reaches an extremely high level, based primarily on the identification of needs that are not satisfied: prevention, diagnostics, treatment, production, quality, management issues.
THE challenge is to make Tuscany the “health region”, pushing research towards applications and companies to grow technologies dedicated to health and well-being. From an operational point of view, the ecosystem dedicates part of the financing to the provision, on the basis of specific public tenders, of funds for Industrial Research, Experimental Development and Feasibility Studies.
Total financing: 110,000,000 euros
