The experiments performed by the INOA group of Quantum Optics on light manipulation by the controlled subtraction of single photons have been selected among the best results of 2009 by the Optical Society of America in a special issue of "Optics and Photonics News".

Il CNR inaugura all'Osservatorio di Arcetri il Concentratore solare con specchi adattivi rotanti, un prototipo capace di sviluppare energia pulita a basso costo e con minore impatto paesaggistico, rispetto all'impianto fotovoltaico. Il progetto è stato elaborato dagli Istituti nazionali di ottica applicata e di biometereologia del CNR e dalla Ronda Hight-Tech. di Vicenza.
